Tabit (HIP 22449)

Tabit is a white subgiant star in the constellation Orion. At 26 light years away, it is the 209th brightest star in the Earth's sky, where it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 3.19. Tabit is the primary component of a multiple-star system. The star's age is estimated to be 1.4 billion years but is certainly no less than 300 million years and no greater than 2.3 billion years. The iron abundance of Tabit is 0 (100.0% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 30.6 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 22,800 and 25,700 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It came closest to the Sun 210,000 years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 2.01 from a distance of 15.3 light years.
