Seginus is a white subgiant star in the constellation Boötes. At 87 light years away, it is the 184th brightest star in the Earth's sky, where it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 3.04. Seginus is the primary component of a multiple-star system. The iron abundance of Seginus is -0.2 (63.1% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 40.3 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,300 and 28,300 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It will come closest to the Sun 518,000 years from now when it will brighten to magnitude 1.91 from a distance of 52 light years.
