45 Orionis is a white subgiant star in the constellation Orion. At 359 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 5.24. 45 Orionis is the primary component of a multiple-star system. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 9.7 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,000 and 40,800 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It will come closest to the Sun 9.7 million years from now when it will brighten to magnitude 3.67 from a distance of 174 light years.
