Nu Eridani is a blue subgiant star in the constellation Eridanus. At 674 light years away, it is the 480th brightest star in the Earth's sky, where it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 3.93. Nu Eridani is the primary component of a multiple-star system and an intrinsic variable star that varies between magntitudes 3.8 and 3.92 over a period of 4.08 hours. The iron abundance of Nu Eridani is -0.27 (53.7% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 15.8 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,600 and 29,100 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
