Gliese 784 is a red dwarf star in the constellation Telescopium. At 20.2 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 7.97. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 42.2 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,000 and 35,800 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It will come closest to the Sun 120,000 years from now when it will brighten to magnitude 6.69 from a distance of 11.2 light years.
