Gliese 59 A is a yellow main-sequence star in the constellation Cetus. At 62 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 6.97. Gliese 59 A is the primary component of a multiple-star system. The star's age is unknown but is certainly no greater than 6.9 billion years. The iron abundance of Gliese 59 A is -0.04 (91.2% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 29 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 19,300 and 24,200 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
