Chi-1 Orionis is a yellow main-sequence star in the constellation Orion. At 28 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 4.39. Chi-1 Orionis is the primary component of a multiple-star system. The star's age is estimated to be 600 million years but is certainly no greater than 4.3 billion years. The iron abundance of Chi-1 Orionis is -0.04 (91.2% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 15 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,200 and 36,000 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It will come closest to the Sun 476,000 years from now when it will brighten to magnitude 3.04 from a distance of 15.2 light years.
