Gliese 208 is a red dwarf star in the constellation Orion. At 37 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 8.78. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 22.3 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,000 and 27,800 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It came closest to the Sun 489,000 years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 4.47 from a distance of 5.1 light years.
