HD 37017 is a blue main-sequence star in the constellation Orion. At 1,185 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 6.57. HD 37017 is a multiple-star system and an intrinsic variable star that varies between magntitudes 6.5 and 6.53 over a period of 21.6 hours. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 30.1 km/s relative to the Sun and is part of the Orion Molecular Cloud and Collinder 70 and NGC 1981 and Running Man and Orion Nebula and NGC 1980 moving groups. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,800 and 29,200 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
