82 Eridani is a yellow main-sequence star in the constellation Eridanus. At 19.7 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 4.26. The star's age is estimated to be 11.3 billion years but is certainly no less than 3.6 billion years. The iron abundance of 82 Eridani is -0.35 (44.7% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 125.1 km/s relative to the Sun. It came closest to the Sun 33,000 years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 3.53 from a distance of 14.1 light years. 82 Eridani has three confirmed planets know to date (early 2012).
