R Sculptoris is a carbon bright giant star in the constellation Sculptor. At 828 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 6.57. R Sculptoris is the primary component of a multiple-star system and an intrinsic variable star that varies between magntitudes 5.96 and 7.24 over a period of 372 days. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 39.3 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 18,200 and 28,700 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
