HD 106906 is a white main-sequence star in the constellation Crux. At 299 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 7.80. The star's age is estimated to be 1.9 billion years but is certainly no less than 1.7 billion years and no greater than 2.2 billion years. The iron abundance of HD 106906 is -0.04 (91.2% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 20.5 km/s relative to the Sun and is part of the Lower Centaurus Crux moving group. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 22,200 and 24,300 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
