Eta Crateris is a white giant star in the constellation Crater. At 251 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 5.17. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 23.7 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 21,700 and 24,100 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It came closest to the Sun 2.0 million years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 4.61 from a distance of 195 light years.
