Gliese 436 is a red dwarf star in the constellation Leo. At 33 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 10.67. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 58.9 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 17,900 and 34,000 light years from the center of the Galaxy. Gliese 436 has one confirmed planet know to date (early 2012).
