Gliese 185 is a red dwarf star in the constellation Lepus. At 28 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 8.31. Gliese 185 is a multiple-star system. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 16.4 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,000 and 37,400 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It will come closest to the Sun 344,000 years from now when it will brighten to magnitude 7.66 from a distance of 20.7 light years.
