Sigma Persei is an orange giant star in the constellation Perseus. At 359 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 4.36. The iron abundance of Sigma Persei is -0.15 (70.8% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 17.4 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,400 and 43,600 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It came closest to the Sun 5.1 million years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 3.11 from a distance of 202 light years.
