Zeta-2 Reticuli (HIP 15371)

Zeta-2 Reticuli is a yellow main-sequence star in the constellation Reticulum. At 39 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 5.24. Zeta-2 Reticuli is the primary component of a multiple-star system. The star's age is estimated to be 3 billion years but is certainly no greater than 7.1 billion years. The iron abundance of Zeta-2 Reticuli is -0.22 (60.3% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 85.2 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 13,100 and 27,200 light years from the center of the Galaxy. Zeta-2 Reticuli has no confirmed planets to date (early 2012), but does have a circumstellar debris disk.

Sky position: RA 3h 18.2m, Dec -62° 30.6'
