89 Aquarii is a yellow giant star in the constellation Aquarius. At 556 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 4.80. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 30.4 km/s relative to the Sun.

Sky position: RA 23h 9.9m, Dec -22° 27.5'

Common designations: 89 Aquarii, HR 8817, HD 218640, HD 218641, GJ 9812, Gaia DR3 2385897355615864192, HIP 114375

89 Aquarii has the spectral type G2III+A2V. G-type stars are yellow stars of about 5,300 to 6,000 K, the same class as the Sun. Their spectra show strong lines of ionized calcium and many metals. Its luminosity class III marks it as a giant: an evolved star that has left the main sequence and swollen to many times its original size.

How to find 89 Aquarii in the sky

89 Aquarii lies in Aquarius. With a declination of -22° 27.5', it is visible from the entire Southern Hemisphere and from the Northern Hemisphere up to about latitude 68° N.
