HD 216770 (HIP 113238)

HD 216770 is a yellow main-sequence star in the constellation Piscis Austrinus. At 120 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 8.10. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 58.9 km/s relative to the Sun.

Sky position: RA 22h 55.9m, Dec -26° 39.5'

Common designations: HD 216770, Gaia DR3 6610107504955838336, HIP 113238

HD 216770 has the spectral type G9VCN+1. G-type stars are yellow stars of about 5,300 to 6,000 K, the same class as the Sun. Their spectra show strong lines of ionized calcium and many metals. Its luminosity class V means it is a main-sequence (dwarf) star, still fusing hydrogen into helium in its core like the Sun.

How to find HD 216770 in the sky

HD 216770 lies in Piscis Austrinus. With a declination of -26° 39.5', it is visible from the entire Southern Hemisphere and from the Northern Hemisphere up to about latitude 63° N.
